When defining confirmation or/or load in SolidWorks Simulation, You can use the tool to divide the wall. The walls are divided to separate a smaller area, where we apply strength or confirm the model. For example, when imitating the bearing support, the cylindrical wall should be divided. And if you simulate a screw connection, you can divide the circle (the so-called. imprint) corresponding to the diameter of the pad, through which the load is transferred.
In simulation in the tab Split There are two types of division:
- Sketch
- Intersection
The division of the sketch is to put the sketch on the wall and works without any problems.

However, wanting to divide the type Intersection We choose the cutting walls and the wall for division. The walls must have contact with each other. You can also choose a contact wall instead of cutting walls – that is, this one, which is based on the one to divide.
Unfortunately, this type of division works on average, often preventing the division of the wall.

Fortunately, both types of divisions have their counterparts outside Simulation. The operation is called Division line and allows you to make a type division Projection and Intersection. In this case Intersection works perfectly.
Therefore, you can prepare such a division earlier before starting the simulation test.
