W SOLIDWORKS 2019 in the operation Offset on surface introduction of two types of conversion offset.

One of them is Offset Euclid forming a linear offset distance between the selected edge and the retraction element, which does not take into account the curvature of the surface.

The second option is Offset Geodetic forming offset, which is the smallest possible distance between the selected edge and the offset component of accident, taking into account the curvature of the surface.

In practice this means to shorten the distance in the case of the single offset edge removal of Euclid. At the same time this type of selection for the entire wall can usually give better results.
