Do you know, that… ?
A topic that appears very often among SOLIDWORKS users – is it possible to save the file to an older version?
The answer is:
NO!
It is not possible to save files with all history to an older version. The only way to open newer files is one version backwards from this, where we save the peaks. However, in this case it does not contribute anything, because the file has no history, just information “Future version file”. Also, the older version must have the last SP (service pack).
This is how you can save a file, so that you can open it in an older version?
There are answers very often: must be saved in * .step or * .iges.
NO!
Do not save in the so-called. open formats (neutral), because saving and reopening files may appear mistakes resulting from translation. Moreover, the entire process is time consuming. For complex parts / assemblies, this process can take a long time and requires a powerful computer.
It takes time to write:
It takes time to open.
The only right choice is to save in PARASOLID, which is a native format for SOLIDWORKS, since the program is based on the parasolid kernel.
Because it is a natural file for SOLIDWORKS, it takes much faster to save, also opening without translation is very fast. The window for processing and building the model does not appear at all. With this method, you can open files in any older version of the program!
