Envelope Publisher will use components as envelopes in subassemblies

Do you know, that… ?

Envelope Publisher allows you to include components from the top-level assembly in subassemblies as envelopes.

About that, what are envelopes (envelopes) you can read in the post below.

Coating as a selection tool in assemblies

You will find the command in the Tools menu > Envelope Publisher.

Envelope Publisher

By using these envelopes as reference components, you can work on the subassembly separately from the top-level assembly. Envelope components inherit changes from the top-level assembly.

Multiple components can have the same envelope, but subassemblies can only contain one envelope group published by the Envelope Publisher.

When you select a subassembly as the target of the envelope, an external reference to the parent assembly is created.

Envelope Publisher

In the folder Published envelopes symbols for external references are displayed, which show the envelope reference state. When editing external references you can lock the context or break it.

Envelope Publisher

Envelope Publisher is available only in assembly with subassemblies and is not available in large project viewing mode.

attention. If an option Envelope Publisher is unavailable, check System Options > external references. Then make sure, that in area Assemblies options are marked:

  • Allow referencing outside the model
  • Any component in the Reference Component Type field
  • Top-tier submission in the In context field
