When opening part or subassembly in an assembly or drawing, You can open the model in the same position, which is in view of the assembly, or drawing.

Standard Open option gives the same result:

While selecting Open Part position results in opening the file in the same orientation. This facilitates comparison of files, measurement, conformity assessment, etc..
