With SOLIDWORKS 2024 new possibilities of operations have appeared called Cut available on the sheet metal. The most classic method involves cutting a cylindrical sheet for further conversion into sheet metal.
This is practiced many times, e.g. in the situation, when the base is welded construction. But you can cut an element in many other cases, examples below.
In case of, when the base is a closed pipe, indicate a cylindrical edge and a point. It can be a geometric point (top), sketch point or origin of the coordinate system (like with me). If the selected reference point is not on the model, the software projects it onto the model.
You can also choose where to cut by offsetting or angular rotation.
